Happy Halloween

My boys in their costumes! We went nerdy this year! Clark Kent was easy because we had everything on hand. My hubby cut out the glasses on his laser cutter.

Countdown to Kisses

As usual I found this great idea on Pinterest. I used this tutorial from Infarrantly Creative. She shows you how to make a Valentine Countdown using a mdf board and a paddle drill bit. I changed it up a little and arranged my kisses in a heart shape. And thanks to my hubby he cut out the holes on his CNC router.  Head on over and check out her tutorial. My Crafty Christmas

Whew! It has been a busy month. I feel like I haven't had much time be creative. But I thought I would share a few of the Christmas projects I have been working on this month. I will post the links I used down below.

1. Mercury Glass Christmas Trees

I found a few glass Christmas Trees as the DI and decided to try my hand at DIY Mercury Glass. I found it harder to work with than I thought.

 

2. Chalk Board Prints

I have been enjoying the Chalk Board craze. I found some cute printables on Pinterest to add to my frames. I even made one of my very own. I don't have file hosting set up or I would share it. Maybe sometime soon I will finally get that set up.

3. Christmas Gift Labels

I saw some really cool photo gift tags on-line. They have a few different types to choose from. I am a cheapskate and didn't want to spend the money so I made my own version in Photoshop. I let Benson color on the wrapping paper. I only put these on the gifts for the Grandmas

4. DIY Anthropologie inspired snow globe

I have been waiting a while to try these out. I found my bottle brush trees at the Dollar store so they aren't the best quality. 

 

5. Neighbor Gifts

I had a really hard time deciding what to do for neighbor gifts this year. Luckily Pinterest came to the rescue again. I made my own tags and used the Print and Cut feature on my new Silhouette machine. It is really pretty cool.

6. Dr. Who Snowflake

 

And just for fun I made a Dr Who Snowflake for my nerdy brother-in-law. I made a cut file and had my Silhouette do all the hard work.

Felt Christmas Tree

I saw this fun idea on Pinterest and thought it would be perfect for my 2 year old. Most people just attach the felt to the wall but I took it one step further and attached it to some foam board from the dollar store. I used command strips to attach it to the wall.
 
I used two pieces taped together to make it a little larger. It took 1 1/4 yards of green felt to cover it. I used spray adhesive to attach the felt to the board. I used ornament shapes from Silhouette as templates for my ornaments. Off to Hobby Lobby to buy felt for stars and presents today. So far he loves it!

Thanksgiving

Halloween and Christmas are my favorite holidays to decorate for. Thanksgiving kind of get lost in the cracks. I decided to give it more of a chance this year. I don't have much, but it's a start. The Give "Thanks" plate was made with vinyl cut on my new Silhouette machine.

Pumpkin Patch

Here are some photos of my mini pumpkin patch on the front porch. I decided to be a little more creative with the pumpkins this year and add some embellishments. The one in the middle in one from our garden. We didn't seem to have much luck with pumpkin growing this year.

Halloween Banner

Once again Rebecca Cooper at Simple as That has created a super cute holiday banner using old book pages. Here is my version of her Halloween Banner. We did this as a crafty playdate and is was super easy. I used some die cuts that I found at the Dollar Store.

Mini Halloween Home Tour

Here are a few pictures of my Halloween decor this year. Yes, it's already up. Here are a few highlights. I am always adding more to it as the month goes on. Halloween is my favor decorating season. Here are some pictures from last year.

Pumpkin Playdough Mats

We had a crafty play date with some neighbor friends today. I had two crafts for the moms and two for the kids. The moms made potion bottles and a Halloween banner (pictures to come soon) The kids had a foam craft and a play dough craft. Here are a couple of pictures I made of pumpkin play dough mats. I used a pumpkin clipart from Microsoft Office. The kids had a good time making faces. I also had some googly eyes to make play dough monsters. 

Apothecary Jars

I saw some super cute apothecary jars at Micheal's Craft Store a few weeks ago and of course wanted to buy all of them. But I didn't want to pay their prices. So of course the first thought is how can I make this myself? And ding! Spray paint and print some labels off the internet. I just used some old jars that I had laying around the house. One is an oil bottle.

I used a matte black to spray paint them. I did a Pinterest search for Halloween labels and came up with a ton to choose from. Another great place to look is Filkr. My favorite where the potion labels based on the Harry Potter books. I have since seen this idea on Pinterest so I am not the first to think of it. This is my favorite kind of craft; super easy!

Carrot Specimen Art

I have always wanted to make a specimen art project. I see them all over blog land. This is my dollar store version of carrots. Both the frame and the carrots came from the dollar store and I got two sets out of one package of carrots. I figure you don't need specific directions. It's pretty self explanatory.

St. Patrick's Day Banner

I saw this on Pinterest and knew that I had to make me one. I don't normally go all out decorating for St. Patrick's Day, but this was to cute to pass up. Of course Rebcecca Cooper's is much cuter than mine. To see my inspiration visit the blog Simple As That

Canvas Heart

For Valentines day we decided to make a heart from our canvas material. And of course add rolled ribbon flowers and crinkle ribbon to it. This is the first attempt. What do you think?

Halloween Mobile

I first saw this craft at a local scrapbooking store and just had to have one. I later found the tutorial on-line. Here is a link to the official tutorial on Finding Time to Create. She also has a lot of other fun ideas. I didn't use as many "dangles" as she did but I still like how mine turned out.
