It is really fun having a hubby with a CNC router, a 3D printer, and a laser cutter. It's also nice that he will actually cut out stuff for me. One of the latest creations was a boy and girl bathroom sign to hang on the hall bathroom. It's cut on the laser from black acrylic. So far it's been a big hit with guest who need to use the bathroom at my house.

Little Yellow Owl
Everyone seems to be finding these super cool owls at thrift stores and then repainting them a fun color. I however have not been so lucky. The closest thing I have come to it is this little guy from the Target dollar section. I painted him a nice bright yellow to go with my new bathroom decor. It took quite a few coats to cover the dark color but he fits right in now.

Hutch Redo Take Two
I have been experimenting with the hutch that sits in my kitchen dining area. I want to update it but I am not ready to attempt to paint it. My last try at fixing it with some foam board and some contact paper didn't go so well. I decided I didn't like it. See it here.
So far I am liking it a lot better. I found a large roll of paper at Hobby Lobby that looks like old fence boards. My hubby helped me cut foam board to fit and tape the paper around it. I like that fact that it is not permanent. I can change my mind at any time. Since I had to take everything off to put it up, I might at well just put my Halloween decor up right? Have I mentioned that Halloween is my favorite holiday to decorate for?

A Touch of Foam Core
I see a lot of creative uses for foam core on Pinterest and I wanted to try jumping on the band wagon. I decided to cover it with some patterned contact paper from the Dollar Store. Of course that limits the size of my project. I decided to go with a little splash in the middle of my hutch. This hutch was inherited from my grandmother. I really want to paint it black but it scares me to take on such a big project. This is my attempt to dress it up a little. What do you think? Yes? No? I haven't decided yet.
Update: I decided I didn't like it and took it down. Oh Well!

The nice thing about this contact paper is that it is re-positional. |

Bulletin Board
I found this awesome printed burlap at Joann's some time ago and have been waiting for the perfect project to use it on. I spray painted a thrifted frame and then glued the burlap to foam board. I am trying to decided if I like it or not. Is it to busy? I will live with if for a while and see if it grows on me.

"Vintage" Bottles
Although I actually do have a few vintage bottles there were mostly bought at Hobby Lobby. I made them over to have a vintage feel. I used my new crinkle ribbon to make the bows. There are a lot of great tutorials out there is you do a search. My mom and I have been on a crinkle ribbon kick lately. I will post some tutorial pictures next time I make one.

Burlap and Lace Pillows
These pillows are inspired by my favorite crafter at our local boutique. She does wonderful things with burlap and vintage lace. I wish she had a website to look at. She is also the source of my sister-in-laws hair piece for her wedding.

Fence Boards Repurposed
This home sign was made out of old fence slats from my mother-in-law's yard after her fence blew over. I used a stencil and white paint to add the home and roughed it up with a little sand paper. I am hanging this above the cupboards in my kitchen. I will post a picture after it is hung up.

Envelope Pillow
I found the cutest orange and cream canvas fabric at Hobby Lobby and just had to have some. I made an envelope pillow out of it using this tutorial from Domestic Imperfection. Super easy to do. I embellished with a little bit of black tulle and some bling. And since it's a slip cover I can change it out if I ever get sick of it. Have I mentioned that fall is my favorite season.

Vintage
I have been enjoying the vintage look lately. I even planned a whole wedding based on it. Hopefully pictures to come. This is a picture of the top of my hutch. My vintage finds include: an old window, tea cups, a slide case and an old flour sifter. The tea cups belonged to my grandmother. The fun thing about the holder is that I saw the exact same one at an antique shop for $20 bucks and then found this one at the D.I. for $2 bucks 20 minutes later. I love the hunt for fun and unique finds.

Thrift Store Finds
I have found myself haunting the thrift stores more and more lately. You get a rush from finding a good deal. The other day I found a Kitchen Aid mixer. The mixer didn't work but I got a bowl and 3 attachments for $20. I have been seeing more and more of these Milk Glass pieces as I stalk all of my favorite bloggers. Here is my version of them.

Trash to Treasure
Photo Holders
My mother-in-law put in a request for some photo holders to display pictures at the school where she teaches. This is what I came up with for her. She teaches fashion strategies and sewing classes so I tried to tailor them to her classrooms. I have found a lot of vintage scrapbook paper lately and had a fun time using them on this project. My husband got the awful job of bending the wires and I am pretty sure he had a few blisters afterward. I am pretty pleased with how they turned out and I think she liked them too.

Pocket Garland
I found a great idea for making a fun garland to hold just about anything you want for parties and get togethers. I made this quite a while ago and used it for the first time at a family donut party this past week. I used some Thanksgiving printables found here and here, to put in the empty pockets. The donut recipe we used is found here. Super yummy!

Kids Play Room Idea

I found this great picture of a kids playroom and wanted to share. I love the idea of the chalk board, cork board and hooks around the room. I thought this would be fun in a craft room also. I can't remember where I found this photo but I want a room like this. (I am lucky if I know where my keys are).
